Our Story

Church of the True Vine began as a small group of individuals from a variety of church backgrounds and experience who used to meet weekly in a front room.

At that time we were pastored by Chrissie Bizley, who instilled in that group a love for the Word of God, a heart of worship and a commitment to fellowship and the love of the saints toward one another.

In 2015 Mike Saffery was commissioned to co-pastor the church with Chrissie and to become an elder of the church. Sadly, Chrissie went home to be with her beloved Jesus at the turn of that year. 

We began to meet at Clevedon Community Centre in May 2016 and the church began to grow. Elizabeth Saffery came alongside Mike as co-pastor, with specific responsibility for the women in the church.  As the church began to link with other churches in the UK and overseas, Mike became an ordained Minister of International Gospel Outreach.

The work overseas has grown through missions to India and in 2018 True Vine Bible School was established, training pastors in the region of Andrapradesh via internet live feed.

In 2020 Paul Elliott was asked to join Mike as an Elder and we thank the Lord for his experience and God-given joy and wisdom.

We continue to meet at the community centre as well as other events for proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ in assorted venues around Clevedon and the surrounding area.
