Bless the Lord.
Today is the day when Jesus, for the joy set before Him, willingly endured the cross.
The day when only He saw beyond the agony, the scourging, the nails, the crown of thorns.
When only He saw beyond the mocking, the shame, the humiliation.
When only He saw past the tomb.
When only He saw the death of sin.
When only He saw the defeat of the devil.
When only He saw the resurrection that was coming.
When only He saw a bride dressed in white because He had borne her filthy rags.
When only He saw the blessing we would receive as He became the fullness of cursing.
When only He saw men redeemed, washed clean, restored and reconciled.
He saw.
Beyond despair.
Beyond judgement.
Beyond the pain.
Beyond the darkness.
Beyond the agony of separation as He cried "Eloi, Eloi, Lama Sabachthani."
He saw each one of us.
He saw us in our shame, our filth, our fear, our wretchedness.
But saw beyond and saw us in His love.
And because He saw, He made Himself nothing.
He saw the price and paid it in full.
Endured it all.
Willingly.
Thank you, Jesus.
