When the king looked into the fiery furnace he did not only see Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. He saw the fourth man who was walking with them in the fire, the one who delivered them, the one who ensured that, no matter how fierce the heat, their hairs were not singed and there was no smell of burning upon them.
So often we simply look at this account (not wrongly) as a great story of God's power to save those who are dedicated to Him. And, rightfully, we give God praise and glory for His deliverance and His keeping of us.
But we also need to remember this is not just for our benefit. The king who beheld it was changed. He declared that the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego was the only God who could bring such deliverance.
Remember, Jesus is with you always. That means that He is seen with you and within you.
So let your lives be a testimony to His glory, His greatness, His salvation, His peace in the midst of troubles, His wonderful love and grace even when you pass through the fire and through the waters.
Jesus is with you always, even to the very end of the age.
Glory to His name forever and ever. Amen.
